I created this simple book as the beginning of an homage to California, where I grew up. I took the image a long time ago on a drive up the coast, and had kept it for many years tucked in the folds of a journal. I don't recall the exact act of taking the picture, but I do remember the feel of the wind in my face. The clear blue of the ocean, the wide-open sky and the blur of grass in the foreground seemed to capture the essense of a carefree, sunny childhood, and thus my desire to preserve that memory in this book.
