Grandma Sue's Spoon

I created Grandma Sue's Spoon as way to connect with a woman who I was never able to meet: Sue Fedor. I had become well aquainted with her recipes and stories about her that had been passed down over the years, but still felt a desire to know more about her and also her Slovak heritage. So, I collected stories about Grandma Sue from her children and grandchildren, gathered copies of her recipes and recipe books, rescued dozens of old photographs, and was educated about the importance of her wooden spoons. The book features some of these stories and most frequently cooked recipes, along with photographs that best convey her spirit. The result was part cookbook, part family history, part photo album, and all homage and honor to the great woman that she was.

The book is set in fonts from the Bembo and PrioriSan typeface families, images were scanned from original Kodak prints and recipes were gathered from Fedor, Gochnour and Dickinson family collections as well as The Anniversary Slovak-American Cook Book.
